Finder Spyder exists ?

Finder Spyder refers to a fake search engine shown on many programs on TV. Michael Keppler uses to find information about the victim (Roger Lapinsky) at the beginning of the episode. This was also seen in a CSI episode titled Time of Your Death. Also seen on pilot episode of Prison Break and in the NBC TV series "Journeyman".
It has been shown in "The Year Of The Rabbit", Dan Vasser is shown using it.

Probably This is Closest to a Finder Spyder in real world = google.com !

  1. I think the Webcrawler search engine (with its spider mascot) might have been the inspiration here.

  5. I got fooled too. I saw it on "Dexter" last night and thought it looked great. If you have not checked that show out it is great... About a serial killer who works for the police as a blood spatter anaylist. It is on Showtime.

  7. Finder Spyder was also used by P.I. Mick St. John in the most recent episode of Moonlight on CBS although the site has a different look from the one used on Journeyman

  8. I would assume its much like how television shows use Oceanic Airlines as seen in lost and some movies, instead of paying legal rights to use the name of a real company.

  9. I got tricked last night watching Prison Break. Linc used it to look up a guy. I have been searching for my boyfriends family all over the net with no luck and had seen this site used on Journeyman and Dexter before now and thought gee it is used so much maybe it is real. Man was I depressed to find out it was fake.

  20. I'm coming late to this party but...

If they used one of the "real" search engines and showed it on-screen, it would count as "product placement" which networks charge BIG bucks for. So the Coke can or name brand beer you might actually see in a show cost the product company advertising dollars to have it seen.
