encyclopedia of life

 it is a new online collaborative project similar to wikipedia but focussed only on documenting 1.8 million species in world. the ultimate goal is to document all the information about living organisms that live on this planet, information like their video, biological details about the species, pictures, sound etc.  initial sponsorship for the project is from Mac Arthur foundation and Sloan Foundation. link to EOL is here.
