Earl Scruggs : Short Bio, Lifetime Achievement Grammy

Earl Scruggs of the Foggy Mountain Boys became famous after, " The Ballad of Jed Clampett", as theme for TV show The Beverly Hillbillies. Earl from his teens was considered a banjo prodigy. Name of their band Blue Grass Boys, later became the name of a music genre Blue Grass. Sixties they were at the peak of their popularity with highlights like, sensational appearance at Japan, appearance at San Francisco Avalon Ballroom and success of their 1949 recording "Foggy Mountain Breakdown" also used in 1967 movie Bonnie and Clyde.
Duo separated because of musical and business differences but continued to perform. In 1985 Flatt & Scruggs were elected to the Country Music Hall of Fame. Earl will be receiving the Recording Academy’s Lifetime Achievement Award. Also being honored are The Band, Burt Bacharach, Cab Calloway, Doris Day, Itzhak Perlman, and Max Roach.
