Debris left the comet Temple-Tuttle with 33 year orbit, during its visit of Earth's Orbit back in 1998, causes the meteor shower. When Earth passes through the debris concentrated area on its orbit, particle enter Earth's atmosphere and burn with friction causing streaks across the sky. This year passage is predicted to peak this weekend, around 11 pm EST on November 17, and 8 pm on November 18. Leonids are named after their location in the sky close to constellation Leo.
