NY comedy festival has started Andy Kaufman Awards. 5 day festival from November-9 to November-13, will feature performances by top 50 stand up comedians. Andy award will be handed out to the performer who most closely resembles Andy style.
Born in NYC, Andy referred to himself as Song and Dance man. Andy told many people that he will fake his own death prior to his actual death. this has caused fans to believe he is still alive.
In the video game "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City", the yellow cabs called "Kaufman Cabs" were named after Andy.
Kaufman practiced transcendental meditation.
