KIPP schools : Knowledge "indeed" is Power Program

Described as Nation's most successful education program catering to inner city and rural area public schools. Richard Rothstein, one of the most interesting and energetic scholars on education, has just published with three co-authors a short piece on the Knowledge Is Power Program.

By the eighth grade, 100 percent of KIPP schools outperform their districts in both subjects. Two-thirds of the first group to complete all four years of KIPP (grades 5-8) went on after high school to earn admission to four-year colleges and universities, far exceeding the average for traditionally underserved peers.
Program is also supported by world's
largest transparently operated[2] charitable foundation in the world, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. This has been doubled by contribution from Warren Buffet.
