Originally a 1954 science fiction novel by Richard Matheson about the last man alive in Los Angeles after a deadly bacterium infects the people of the city. Robert Neville the hero of the story is apparently the only survivor who is immune to the virus. The story has been adapted to three movies so far with the latest one starring Will Smith to be released in December, 2007. First two were The Last Man On Earth and The Omega Man.
The latest adaptation is made by Ridley Scott, directed by Francis Lawrence (Constantine), filmed in NYC.
